I feel I really need to post about my favorite TV show in my musician blog, because it has been a very crazy and awesome week. First I gotta explain about my probably stupid tradition, but at least I have 1; every year I make covers of my favorite Eurovision songs no matter in which language the song has been composed, for those friends who are not in Europe, Eurovision is maybe the biggest music festival I have seen, because every country in Europe sends a song to a big LIVE performance festival, the contest itself is a very professional event, that looks great on TV and it takes part on spring, every year. Like I said, every year I make covers for my favorites in show of support from so far, and this year I had quite a lot of favorites, it was a good year in my opinion, so I wanted to do something special. There was a song that was driving me crazy, I wanted to sing it so much, that much that I learned it on guitar, but the original singer's voice was so intimidating to me,that I tried to resist my "impulse of stupidity" I felt I couldn't deal with the song, you gotta hear that song! Then, the Saturday before the Eurovision grand final, I just had a horrible day at school, believe me it was terrible, I came home frustrated, and then I was recording some songs at home just to distract myself from that frustration and yeah, my impulse of stupidity just became stronger and because of the feelings of that particular song, combined with my mood, I started recording it at home. I was not sure if it was good enough to publish it, I was so nervous so I kept the cover to myself, but then a friend from the Balkans who already heard another cover I made the day before heard my supposedly called attempt of cover and he really liked it that much that he told me to put it on YT or somewhere. He is also from that region of Europe, he said it was good enough to try, that same moment we were talking, the other cover I recorded was posted on the original singer's Facebook page, published by Nina Badric herself! Big thank you Nina, love you! I was so happy, my gloomy mood was changing a bit, so I decided to listen to my friend and uploaded a quick video for the other song I was so nervous about, just a picture of both, Kaliopi and me with the audio track on YouTube. Then it happened, comments were arriving per minute, and I thought it was just for friends to have a laugh at my attempt, oh no, the video became my most watched video ever on YouTube, didn't sleep that night, it reached 25000 views in only 1 day. It was showed in many websites in Macedonia, couldn't believe all the feedback, it was that special to me that I made a second video, just to tell them a huge thank you for everything, and as I also knew the song on guitar and I read that somebody was looking for a LIVE performance of it, then I played acoustic on the second video, and again the press caught me. I didn't sleep for 2 days in a row, days before the Grand Final, I answered for 2 interviews for different websites and newspapers, and I think I also got a message from Kaliopi herself, I am still not sure if it was her 'cause she was very busy, but it was her official account on YT, so I don't know, but I was so happy, if it was her, then it was a very beautiful thing. Macedonians have been very kind to me and they also jumped to listen to my own music, this really means to me, so once again big, huge thank you to all of you, Croatians, Italians, Macedonians, Serbians, French, Hungarians, Finnish, Estonians and all of you who have noticed about my yearly tradition, don't know what to say I really appreciate this. And here are the covers!! again, it was a crazy and awesome week, thank you people, you're the best!
And what about the show itself? Oh! I watched semi finals on internet, thanks to friends who gave me good links with no delay, watched with my grandmother, I wish I have recorded us on video, we were dancing along with Russian grannies and Moldova's performances, well I was singing with almost every song. And I didn't like the winner but it was all predictable since before the contest started so I don't really care about who won. The event itself was very cool this year, had a great time at home watching it. Love. Tara. Like some of you may know, one of Tara's hobbies is to explore and share music with people worldwide, since 2010 she found an interesting way to do this online through some music contests. Yesterday evening her song "Challenge" was uploaded in it's full version to YouTube via MelodyVision, which was the first online contest she ever joined. When I first joined MV back in 2010 I was pretty confused, I had to look for songs from my country so they could make a themed video for it to participate, yes I thought it was like Eurovision but worldwide, still was a bit confusing and I didn't get much into it, but little by little I started to love it, a lot of great music has been sent to that contest and also I found some other interesting contests to join, but never sent my song until now. So like I said it is kinda like Eurovision and every contest edition has a theme based on it's current host country, here comes the reason why I decided to send it now, not before, not later. This edition is hosted in Cardiff, Wales and I know it is not real is just an online theme, but I find it quite symbolic and felt it was the right moment to send it, Wales is the closest to Ireland which was a host country way before I even knew about the contest, I could have tried some months ago during the Glasgow edition which was my personal favorite, but it was a local language theme (yes sometimes I should send only songs in Spanish) so I couldn't send myself then. Right after it was a free language edition hosted in ...Tallinn so no, long story just no, I decided to waita bit more. Then all my projects started to take more shape and I decided to release my first EP which is coming out very soon on May hopefully and then Cardiff! Yes, now is a good one! Some of you may know that I love Ireland, I even went there when I was younger and I wish to go back there someday so the symbolism is important to me :) The video was up and it already has a very good feedback from MV players, you gotta see that video is really nice I loved the green colors since the first moment, and the Welsh dragon is just perfect! Challenge is a song about dealing with problems and getting over it as soon as possible but of course is not an easy thing, it's like "fighting with a dragon" simply great. They make awesome videos, I even learned some Photoshop tricks from them really cool, so no more talking Thank you MelodyVision for all the fun and great music shared this is a chance for me to share my song with at least 1 person from each country, that already is a huge thing to me, means a lot! And here is Challenge!! Also check this out!Yes, winners are all pretty famous but there are also great not so famous songs. For me, this ones are a great example: La Sole <3
So yes, for me this is wonderful! :D Hello family, friends and fans, today is my birthday oh dear I am getting old... anyway, hope you're all having a great time, this is just a short post to share my newest song also in here 'cause I published specially during this week as my gift for you all, for always being there. The river is maybe the only happy song I've ever composed so I saved it for a happy day (I think). Song is about life, sometimes we all are quite like a river, going through life as best as we can, facing our ups and downs, relationships, jobs, careers, our corrupted country's systems etc etc... and anything could happen nobody really knows what's next, so that's what the song's about. A friend already told me that the instrumentation is pretty Scottish-Irish and yes, I made it intentionally, as the song was made by me and the metaphor is that we all are like rivers, then I wanted to show with music what kind of river I would be, a happy and cheerful one yet with a bit of the Celtic melancholy, quite transparent with turbulent rapids (yes I am impatient) and some abrupt falls (yes I get very depressed sometimes), still a slow and long river, pretty normal... So here it is for you hope you like it, enjoy and have a great day. Today I won't have a party (from what I know...) instead I will spend some hours at the studio recording vocals for my most recent song "Crickets waltz" so if everything goes according to the plan I could be showing you a preview of what we have until now. Ok, "The River" You can also download it 'til Sunday evening! love Tara She had another Facebook page before calling herself "Tara Wills".
When she changed her name from Steph to Tara, another Facebook page was created and the following is a note explaining to some fans why did she change her stage name. As many of you may know, her real name is Stephanie or Steph, but she needed another name, not so overused and more catchy. Once she was talking to a very closed friend of her and she was complaining about the overuseness of Stephanie, she said: "I can't stand when I go somewhere, meet some new people and they always tell me (as if it was so great): Oh! my cousin, grandma, mother, aunt, classmate, sister or whoever's name is Stephanie too, it makes my name so boring and useless for marketing, what should I do if I am trying to become a singer then? Her friend replied telling her to put also her last name, but then both agreed that "Steph Wills" was not bad but not catchy enough for an artist's name, then she asked Steph: "Would you like to change your first name or what?" :) And ofcourse it was necessary, so they started looking for a new name that suits to her and things that she like the most. As Steph has been a big fan of Celtic culture since late childhood, they reduced the searching to Celtic names. Stiophánai? (Gaelic version of Stephanie) --- the problem with this name is the pronunciation, how will non-Celtic fan people pronounce this name? Then Kayleigh, like Marillion's song (prog-rock Scottish band) "I like this name" she said, but still I think it doesn't suit much to Wills and it is still hard for some people to pronounce, we need something easier. Then Tara... Tara Wills easy, catchy and easy to remember, is it overused? Kind of, but there are not singers with "Tara Wills" as there names but too many Stephanie or Steph____ everywhere. It sounds nice and seems to go with her lat name, but what does Tara mean? Tara has different meanings in different cultures: Indian Meaning: The name Tara is an Indian baby name. In Indian the meaning of the name Tara is: A hill where the kings met. American Meaning: The name Tara is an American baby name. In American the meaning of the name Tara is:From the crag of a tower. Gaelic Meaning: The name Tara is a Gaelic baby name. In Gaelic the meaning of the name Tara is: Goddess of the sea. Irish Meaning: The name Tara is an Irish baby name. In Irish the meaning of the name Tara is: Shining. In Hindu mythology Tara is one of the names of the wife of Shiva. Sanskrit Meaning: The name Tara is a Sanskrit baby name. In Sanskrit the meaning of the name Tara is:Where the kings met. Also Tara's Halls, where ancient Bards sang deeds of Irish heroes. The ruins of the Halls are on the hill of Tara, meaning crag or tower. SoulUrge Number: 2 People with this name have a deep inner desire for love and companionship, and want to work with others to achieve peace and harmony. Expression Number: 4 People with this name tend to be orderly and dedicated to building their lives on a solid foundation of order and service. They value truth, justice, and discipline, and may be quick-tempered with those who do not. Their practical nature makes them good at managing and saving money, and at building things in the material world. Because of their focus on order and practicality, they may seem overly cautious and conservative at times. The topic was forgotten for a while and Stephanie started her singing career as "Steph" but then it came again, the overused name was giving her problem with advertising and finally she decided to change it. Now it is official her stage name will be Tara Wills |
